Mr. Smiley is a shadow figure, an enigma. While his face is tinted white like a Clown Commando, he is always seen wearing civilian clothing--a plain black suit. Although he does not officially command the unit, he seems to act as a liaison between the Commandos and any outside organizations. It is believed by some that Mr. Smiley was a founding member of Patton's Pranksters, the first unit of Clown Commandos to see action, but his service record is sealed, and no one can know anything about him for certain. The relationship between Mr. Smiley and Colonel Clown is uncertain, though the Colonel does seem to hold a grudging respect for the mysterious Clown in black.
